LIS Student Publishes Essay on Reference Service Philosophy
Library Philosophy and Practice will publish Kristina Jung’s (Michel) essay titled “Self-creation and Communal-creation: A Philosophy of Reference Service” in January 2008.
The essay outlines traditional descriptions of reference services and examines the claim that reference service remains vital to libraries in general, particularly academic institutions. Ultimately, Jung believes that reference service is an intrinsic part of the academic library and that reference philosophy should be cultivated both individually and communally.
