Edith B. Phillips died peacefully at her residence in Southfield, Mich. on Feb. 25, after completing her morning ritual of reading the New York Times. She was 86-years-old and her health had been declining.
Ms. Phillips retired from the Wayne State University Library and Information Science Program where she taught for 23 years. She was honored for her scholarly achievements and service to the university with the distinction of Professor Emeritus.

Leslie Morgan, LibSci ’05, was selected as the recipient of the Indiana Library Federation’s 2007 Outstanding New Librarian Award. Now, Morgan is offering advice to current students on how they also can become successful librarians.

Jessica Walker, LIS student and SOLIS President, would like other LIS students to help host a skillshare at Wayne State. This idea originated from the Progressive Library Skillshare that Walker attended from Sept. 7-8, 2007 in Pittsburgh, Pa. Walker has provided a report of the event.
